STANDARD FLU VACCINE is called INFLUVAC. This vaccine will remain FUNDED and FREE for patients that meet the eligibility criteria:
- 65 years old and over
- People under 65 who are most at risk of becoming very sick from flu, such as people:
o with long-term conditions (like asthma, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease)
o with reduced immune function
o who are pregnant
o with specific mental health conditions or addiction issues
- 4 years old and under who have been hospitalised for respiratory illness or have a history of significant respiratory illness.For Enrolled Patients, who are not eligible for a funded vaccine, the cost is $25.00 for the STANDARD FLU VACCINE.
ADVANCED FLU VACCINE
There are two unfunded advanced flu vaccines, available:
1. The 2024 Advanced Flu Vaccine, for patients aged between 6 months and 64 years, is called FLUCELVAX Quad* This is a non-funded vaccine, and the cost is $40.
2. The 2024 Advanced flu vaccine, for patients aged 65 years and over, is called FLUAD Quad** This is a non-funded vaccine, and the cost is $40.

* WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE FLUCELVAX QUAD?
• Designed to be an exact match to the flu strains that are circulating this year.
• Shown to be up to 19% more effective than standard influenza vaccines at protecting you from the flu.
• Established safety profile with more than 200 million doses distributed worldwide.
** WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE FLUAD QUAD?
• Lower risk of medical encounters due to influenza-related outcomes, including hospitalisations and GP Visits.
• Longer protection – Antibody levels are higher at 12 months post vaccination.
• Established safety profile with more than 270 million doses distributed worldwide.
Both STANDARD and ADVANCED FLU Vaccines will be available from 2nd April 2024 and Prana Family Health patients can start booking this from Tuesday 2nd April 2024.

Please note, our Takanini branch is a Nurse Practitioner lead clinic with support from a Community Nurse Prescriber. Should any health concerns arise beyond their scope, you may be referred to our Mount Roskill branch for further assistance.

Manage My Health is Prana’s chosen patient portal, and is available for all enrolled patients to use.
If you want to access lab results and reports or request repeat prescriptions, Manage My Health allows you to do so with ease.

All prescriptions require 24- 48 hours’ notice to send. Our clinic gets hundreds of requests a day. If you know you are running out then reach out as soon as possible.

General consults can be booked with a minimum of one days’ notice. Some of our doctors are busier than others and may require more notice. Rest assured our reception team will work hard to help you get the appointment you need.

Our clinic receives hundreds of calls a day. Wait times are a common issue when calling, and we are well aware that it can be time consuming. To combat this we have a dedicated team working on emails at all times. Skip the queue, send us your request using our email address and our team will get in touch.

Enrolling at our clinic is free of charge and there is no waiting list.

Our clinic gets dozens of calls a day regarding same-day appointments, and we always allow for them however, please bear in mind the following:
All requests are triaged and prioritised according to the urgency of the matter and the availability of doctors on duty.
Our clinical team will do their best to ensure your concerns are treated as fairly as possible.
Rest assured, if you have requested an appointment you will always hear back from our team in a prompt manner.

You may want to book an appointment shortly after you enrol at our clinic. First appointments are generally twice as long (30 minutes). This is to allow our clinical team to get a better picture of who you are, your health history and your current health goals. After we have established a good baseline, appointments are generally 15 minutes in duration.

Please note, processing time for lab results is 7 working days. The Clinic will only contact you if your results are abnormal.
All results are reviewed and filed by the Clinical team and can be viewed on the Patient Portal (MMH). Contact us if you would like to discuss your results or sign up for MMH.
